Cleaning Your Rental
Before you move out, make sure you clean your house thoroughly. You are required by law to make sure your rental is in decent condition upon vacating. Remove any furniture or other items that belong to you or your roommates. If you do not clean your rental and remove all belongings you will likely lose a significant portion of your security deposit. You may even suffer a lawsuit if you left your rental in a particularly bad state. If new tenants are moving in right after you, the place needs to be reoccupied immediately. Your cleaning at the end can make things easier for everyone – including yourself.
Inspect Your Rental Before Leaving
While you are required by law to clean your rental you should also inspect your home for your own protection. Before you turn in your keys, send an email asking me to inspect the home with you. If I'm not available then you should have a friend inspect your home. The friend should take photographs and sign and date them.
Returning Your Keys & Garage door openers
Return your keys directly to me, mail them to 7133 Gleason Rd Minneapolis MN 55439 or contact me to arrange leaving them in your rental home.
Getting Your Deposit Back
By the time you move out, you should provide your forwarding address via email. I need to either return your security deposit or give you a complete list of damages within 21 days after the end of the lease. I cannot and won't charge for damage caused by ordinary wear and tear. Examples of wear and tear include faded paint on walls, loose tiles in the bathroom, window cracks caused by winter weather and leaky faucets. I don't want to charge you for anything, I'd prefer to return your security deposit in full. Please help me do this by cleaning your home thoroughly, removing all belongings and repairing any damage your fellow renters or guests created.
